| SCIENCE CLUB GOES TO STATE FINALS FOR SCIENCE OLYMPIAD! |
On Thursday, January 12th 2012, the CJCP Science Olympiad team competed in a Regional competition at NJIT. The team received a trophy for 6th place out of the 20 teams at the competition, which qualifies us to advance to State Finals at Middlesex County College in March 13,2012! The students competed in 12 projects and our CJCP students placed in their own individual competitions as well.

| The Liberty Science Center Trip |
Mr. Biyikli, Ms. Medwick, Ms. Rajaram and the 10th grade Chemistry classes attended a field trip to the Liberty Science Center in Jersey City, New Jersey on Dec 20th,2011.
We experienced the inner workings of a tornado through an IMAX movie, a myriad of strange and interesting creatures, and the multifaceted nature of the spread of diseases.

| Anti-Bullying: Sirdeaner Walker's Inspirational Speech |
Wednesday, January 11th the students will have an important guest speaker talk to them regarding bullying and the affects it can have not only on the person themselves, but the family and friends. Sirdeaner Walker from Springfield, Massachusetts has changed her lifestyle to push and end bullying after her 11 year old son committed suicide due to bullying at his charter school. CJCP will stand together after this assembly against bullying.

| Night on Broadway! |
The Junior Committee will be hosting the CJCP talent show on December 20, 2011. Students of all grade levels will be participating in the event.
The proceeds for this event will be donated to the junior class for future events such as prom and graduation. Please come to support the junior class and the talent show contestants next Tuesday!
We look forward to spending a 'Night on Broadway' with you!

| Winter Wonderland |
Senior Class is hosting a Winter Wonderland Dance for all grades on December 16, 2011 from 7:00pm to 10:00 pm.
Tickets are on sale during lunch periods. They are $5 ahead and $7 at the door. Snacks and beverages will be sold. Don't miss out, DJ Tricks will be in the house!!

| Parent-Teacher Conferences |
Dear CJCP Parents/Guardians,
Central Jersey College Prep Charter School parent teacher conferences will be held from 5:00pm to 7:00pm on Wednesday, December 14th, in the cafeteria.
There will be no after school programs and students will be dismissed at 2:47pm. Please be sure to attend these meetings with your child s teachers. It is a great way to connect with all the progress your child is making. read more . . .

| Honor Roll Breakfast |
Congratulations to first marking period CJCP Principal's List/Honor Roll students for their superb academic showing. Students on the CJCP Principal's/Honor Roll list, for the first marking period of the 2011-2012 school year, were honored in a ceremony held on November 23rd and December 3rd. Students and their parents/guardians were treated to a special breakfast.

| Financial Aid Workshop Invitation |
On Monday, December 19th, 2011 CJCP will hold a Financial Aid Workshop for students and parents. This event will be held in the CJCP auditorium from 6:00pm - 7:30pm. The workshop will be in coordination with Rutgers University. At the workshops students/ parents will learn about opportunities and programs available through local, state and federal organizations. RSVP is NOT required.

| Assemblyman Upendra Chivukula visits CJCP |
On Wednesday, November 23, 2011, Assemblyman Upendra Chivukula participated in Central Jersey College Prep's monthly series inviting community leaders to give motivational speeches to their students. The Assemblyman spoke in front of approximately 120 middle school students, explaining government and providing life lessons.

| CJCP Robotics Team- Camp in Pennsylvania |
On Wednesday, November 9th , the Robotics team took off with eight team members to a camp house in Albrightsville, PA. They stayed two days in the house working on the robots and having breaks to relax and unwind after extensive hours. Bowling was the main activity of the final evening. Special thanks to Ms. Headley(Kenya Nelms`s mom) coming to the camp and cooking for us.

| College Visit to Montclair State University |
Central Jersey College Prep students also visited Montclair State University. Seniors visited MSU on November 4th. As a state University MSU is an excellent economical choice for students. Also, Montclair students have the opportunity to go to Manhattan on the train which also stops on campus. Montclair had a surprise for our seniors. Seniors were given lunch vouchers with which they enjoyed a buffet lunch on campus.

| U.S. Rep. Rush Holt visits Central Jersey College Prep Charter School |
Congressman Rush Holt, who represents New Jersey's 12th District in the United States House of Representatives, paid a special visit to Central Jersey College Prep Charter School on Monday, November 14, 2011.
Representative Holt visited 6th grade Science, 8th English, and 9th grade Literature classes and talked to the students about the books they were reading and topics they were learning.

| Parent Breakfast at CJCP |
Central Jersey College Prep Charter School started to host breakfast series for all parents/guardians of CJCP students on Wednesday, November 9, 2011 in the cafeteria from 10:00 am to 11:00 am. CJCP has recognized that it often takes a full year for students and parents to understand and access the numerous programs, resources, and committed staff we have at CJCP. Our goal is to expedite this process and build strong relationships with you.

| College Trips to Kean and Seton Hall |
Central Jersey College Prep students recently visited Kean University and Seton Hall University. Juniors went to Kean University on October 19th to learn more about Kean. We enjoyed a campus tour which included information about campus life, academics and the admission process.

| 2nd Annual CJCP Canned Food Drive |
2nd annual Cjcp canned food drive was a huge success. Cjcp national honor society and volunteer club partnered up with the Franklin township food bank (ftfb) to collect non-perishable items for the ftfb clients. Cjcp students donated 843 pounds of items which exceeded the initial goal of 650 pounds.

On Thursday, November 3rd, CJCP 8th graders visited the Intrepid Sea, Air and Space Museum in New York City. Students participated in a marine science workshop where they learned about the current health of the Hudson River.

| Harvest Ball and Black Out Masquerade |
On October 28th, Central Jersey College Prep held two dances for both the middle school and high school. The middle school "Harvest Ball" and high school "Black Out Masquerade" both had a wonderful turn out. All students who attended said they had a great time. Social Events CLub would like the thank all the students, parents, and staff who helped make this such a successful event!

| Senior Class is Recycling 4 Cash!! |
The Senior Class is fundraising throughout the year by collecting used ink cartridges, toners, cell phones, iPods, and laptops and recycling them. If you have any old items please bring them in and put them in the boxes located around the school (main office, Dartmouth, Cornell, and Teacher' Lounge).

| Robotics Team-Successful fundraising event! |
On Wednesday November 2nd, there were around 50 people that came out to the Spaghetti Dinner. About $300 was raised and the money went toward the two-day camp that followed the week after. The Robotics team wants to specially thank Ms. Brown (Jasmine Brown`s mom) for doing an excellent job in the kitchen. Spaghetti and the sauce was delicious.

| Somerset County Sheriff Mr. Provenzano visits CJCP |
On Wednesday, October 26th Somerset County Sheriff, Frank J. Provenzano, spoke to CJCPCS students in the auditorium. Mr.Provenzano focused on School Violence Awareness and Anti-Bullying in his presentation and shared his experiences in a Q&A session.

| College Representatives visit CJCP |
New York University (NYU), Albright College and Rider University representatives came to CJCP to introduce their schools, programs and answer any questions from CJCP students. Juniors and Seniors had the opportunity to get first hand information from college representatives. Consequently, our students received direct answers to their questions. Similar visits from additional colleges and universities are scheduled for the near future. North American College will visit on the 19th ; Kean University is scheduled for November 14th and Berkeley College is presenting on the 15th and 16th of November.

| Open House for the Science Olympiads |
The CJCP Science Club welcomed new members of the Science Olympiad Team on Saturday, October 1, 2011. This year the team has joined together 18 members to compete in a regional, state and national science olympiad, which is the highest number of members CJCP has ever seen for the Science Club. The students involved this year range from grades 6th through 9th and there are also 2 students from 10th grade that will be helping out their fellow CJCP peers as project mentors. During our Saturday Open House, parents and students gathered together to listen to presentations about the hard work and dedication that will be involved for this team. With all of the support from the family and our CJCP community, we know that the Science Olympiad Team will have a very successful year. Team advisors Mr. Biyikli, Mr. Kocak, Ms. Lacik and Mrs. Ozgur wishes the best for all of our kids.
