ABOUT CJCP

The Central Jersey College Prep Charter School (CJCP) is a nonsectarian public school for young men and women from grades 6 through 12. It is funded by public sources and is operated independently by a board of trustees under a charter granted by the Commissioner of Education. The School is located in the Region of New Brunswick, North Brunswick, and Franklin Twp and, in terms of admission preference, is expected to serve students residing there.

The purpose of the CJCP is to fully prepare students to carry the torch of knowledge, freedom, and prosperity that has been passed down from generation to generation. The CJCP will be a small, structured school, with 336 students attending at full enrollment.  It will deliver a rigorous educational program to develop and sharpen the skills necessary to formulate a question or define an issue.  They will learn to find relevant information using appropriate tools and to evaluate it through critical thinking and quantitative analysis, on the basis of which they will solve problems and make decisions.  They will be able to organize and present their work both orally and in written or graphic form.

In recognition of the enormous stresses of modern life, families will be supported in contributing to the success of their children's education, which in turn can contribute to the quality of family life.  The school will stress an atmosphere of trust, safety, structure, open communication, and ownership through the use of community service learning, class meetings, assemblies, workshops, community open houses, student performances, and student/teacher/parent goal-setting and assessments.
